Healthy Gift Guide, Products I Love

2010 Healthy Holidays Gift Guide

The Holiday season is upon us!
And I’m excited to unveil my my 2010 Healthy Holidays Gift Guide.
If you’re looking for some great gift ideas, here are ten of my most favorite health products ranging from $11-$400.

Add them to your wish list or give them to someone you love.

The Champion Juicer

Juicing is the best way to quickly extract massive amounts of nutrients from vegetables and fruit and get them into your body. The Champion Juicer ($236) is my favorite juicer of all time.  I drank eight glasses of veggie juice every day for several years as part of my anti-cancer diet.  But you don’t have to drink that much.  Just one glass per day will do you a ton of good.  I recommend spending the extra $30 to upgrade to the commercial motor.  (That’s what we did.) The Champion Juicer is super easy to clean and has been in our kitchen working like a “champ” since 2004.

The Maker’s Diet

The one health book I recommend more than any other is The Maker’s Diet ($11).
Don’t let the name fool you. It’s not a weight-loss book.  Like the cover says, it’s a 40-day health experience that will change your life forever.
This is the single best book on health, nutrition, and natural living I’ve ever read, and trust me I’ve read alot!
If you only buy one book on health, this should be it.
(p.s. You will probably lose some weight too)

Oreck Air Purifier

Accoding to the EPA, the air in your house may be up to 5 times more polluted than the air outside and we spend approximately 90% of our time indoors!   Indoor air pollution is caused by mold, viruses, dust mites, bacteria, pet dander and the outgassing of chemicals used in the production of furniture, paint, carpet, cleaning supplies, candles, air fresheners…pretty much everything in your house.

This is why the Oreck Air Purifier ($319) has been cleaning the air in our house since 2004.  It works great.  It’s easy to clean, and the filter parts are easy to find and replace.  Ours has three settings: low, high, and silent mode.  We like the white noise of the low setting the best.  Especially great for folks with allergies and asthma.

Waterwise 8800 Distiller

We’ve also had the Waterwise 8800 Countertop Water Distiller ($399) since 2004.  We fill it up every night before bed and the next morning we have a gallon of pure, clean H20 ready to drink.  It’s especially gratifying to look in the boiler and see all the crud it has removed from our drinking water.  If your family drinks a lot of water you might want to order an extra carafe.  That way you can always have one in the fridge and one filling up in the distiller.  The 8800 distills a gallon of water every 4 hours.

Master Cleanse

If I knew how to insert an audio file that played U2′s “Lemon” as you scrolled over this I would totally do it.  Anyway, here’s a great New Year’s Resolution that’s doesn’t require a year long commitment or a gym membership:
Why not do a 10-day Detox Fast and clear out a lot of the toxins that have been accumulating in your body.  All the Hollywood celebs do it, shouldn’t you?  All kidding aside.  You will lose weight and feel amazing when it’s done.  I promise.

The Ultimate Organic Master Cleanse Kit ($81) comes complete with everything you need except lemons.  It includes The Master Cleanser Book, Organic Maple Syrup, Celtic Sea Salt, Organic Smooth Move Tea, Herbal Laxative Tea, Organic Cayenne Powder, and Organic Peppermint Tea.  Of course you could go out and buy it all separately, but this way is super easy.  A couple clicks online and it’ll be on your doorstep in a few days.

RF3 ENVi Air Tube Headset

Did you know that cell phone microwave radiation penetrates two inches into an adult skull? And research has shown that heavy cell phone users have a high risk of developing a brain tumor on the same side of their head that they use the phone.  Yikes!

One obvious solution is to not put the phone up to your head.  But even if you use earbuds or a bluetooth headset you are still exposing your brain to harmful Electro Magnetic Frequencies.
I protect myself from cell phone radiation and EMFs with the RF3 ENVi Air Tube Headset ($25-$39). These are similar to normal ear buds except that the speaker is in a bead and the sound waves travel into your ear naturally through a 4″ long air tube.

The ENVi comes as standard earbuds, or the earhook (shown), and in a stereo pair or mono (one ear bud).  And they look really cool with the dark wood and aluminum construction.

Note: there is another product on the market called the “blue tube” headset.  I’ve owned it and don’t recommend it.  The Envi is much better quality.  I use it everyday and really like it a lot.

Rebound-Air Mini Trampoline

Rebounding is a great low impact aerobic excercise and the most effective way to stimulate your lymphatic system, which is a critical part of your immune system.
I did this several times a day as part of my anti-cancer strategy; and my wife used rebounding workout dvds to lose weight and get back in shape after Marin was born.
It’s really fun and it works!

The Rebound-Air ($299) is the one we have.  It’s super high quality, folds up for easy storage, and it is the only brand that I know of with a Lifetime Warranty. It’s been featured on the Today Show and is even used on The Biggest Loser campus.

There are a lot of different rebounders on the market from $99-$299.  I’m partial to Rebound-Air, but Cellerciser, Needak, Jumpsport and Bellicon are also quality brands.

Food, Inc.

Having a hard time resisting junk food and making healthy choices?
Food, Inc. ($14) is a must-see documentary about the food industry.  Don’t worry, it’s not like a gross-out peta video, but there is some very surprising and powerful information that will make it much easier for you make healthy choices.  Most of us have no idea where our food comes from and what’s in it.
You’ll never look at dinner the same way again.
Two thumbs up!

Joyce Chen Ceramic Stovetop Tea Kettle

Trash that Metal Tea Kettle!
Metal tea kettles can leach heavy metals and metallic taste into your tea when they’re exposed to high heat.  A few years ago I went looking for a glazed ceramic tea kettle we could use on our gas stove and found an awesome one.

The Joyce Chen Ceramic Tea Kettle ($40) is a 2 qt. ceramic kettle fired at 2700 degrees which makes it tough enough to use on an open flame gas cook top.

Note: It doesn’t whistle, so you need to keep your eye on it, or set a timer.
It comes in black or white, with a bamboo handle and it rocks!

      • Selena Faulkner

Yes! I got one for my birthday this month. It hasn’t arrived yet, but I can’t wait. I spoke with several people before choosing one, and this one was recommended hands down by several dehydrating aficionados.

  • Barbara Kilpper

Amazing. That is the best penny you will ever spend
      in your life!

  • http://jwyant.com Jessica

Just a quick note on ceramic ware… Please be careful when buying ceramics used for food. Stay away from cheap things made from china, it could have lead in the glaze. Also be weary of brightly colored items fro the same reason. I am not saying this item is dangerous, I am saying if you can not find this one specifically and want to substitute, take percausions. Also never buy a ceramic item with cracks in it. If you get an item with crazing (crack all over as decoration, which is very popular) make sure it has a clear glaze over it which is smooth and intact. It is a bacteria haven.

    I hope this was helpful,
    Jessica

    • http://www.chrisbeatcancer.com chrisbeatcancer

Hi Jessica thanks for the insights. Very helpful and I agree 100%. Cooking in cheap ceramics is a big mistake. I should mention for the readers that there is a difference between a tea pot and a tea kettle. A tea pot should never be used on a stove, it is merely a serving piece. A kettle, on the other hand, is designed for brewing. The Joyce Chen Stovetop Tea Kettle is very high quality and made for electric range or gas stove brewing.

Do you recommend the cellerciser and the bellicon rebounders ?

  • VB

    Hi Chris,
Thought I saw a link for Needak rebounders as well as the ReboundAir-If you have a link for the Needak could you please post it?

    Thank You

  • megan

    Hi Chris,

A lot of raw vegan recipes I see call for dehydration. What is your take on dehydrating food? If you think it’s worthwhile, do you have a particular dehydrator you can recommend?

    Thank you,
    Megan
