She healed cancer with raw food then ran 366 marathons in a row!

Janette Murray-Wakelin is one of the most remarkable cancer survivors I have interviewed.
In 2001, she refused conventional treatment and healed aggressive breast cancer with a raw food diet.

Then in 2013, she and her husband Alan (both in their 60s) ran around the entire continent of Australia. This involved running a marathon every single day for 366 consecutive days.

In the process they broke and set a new world record.
And they were exclusively fueled by raw fruits and veggies.

These grandparents put my level of fitness to shame. To shame!

Here’s part 1.

Here are the two books mentioned in the interview

The Breuss Cancer Cure by Rudolph Breuss

Raw Can Cure Cancer by Janette Murray-Wakelin

In part 2 of our interview, Janette and I talk about the experience of running a marathon every day for a year around the continent of Australia. We discuss the preparation involved, the grueling terrain, their diet, how many pairs of Vibram 5-Finger barefoot running shoes they went through, and more. Absolutely fascinating. Here it is…

Wow! So inspiring. My hubby is doing a 1/2 marathon and wanted me to train to join him. Now I feel I should. Where do I get those volunteers who will make my juice and smoothies every day? :-)

What was her exact type/stage of breast cancer?

    1. MB

      I heard Stage III

Cris, did her lump disappeared? No more palpable mass? How long after the diagnosis and after she started juicing did she or her doctor declared her cancer free? I heard from Dr. Gonzales that some cancer patient still has the tumor 10-20 years later even after the juicing, the enzymes, the enema, etc. Kinda like you live with it.

We all live with cancer cells. They come and go constantly in your body. If your immune system is strong, it takes care of the cancerous cells. If your body is out of balance through stress, bad diet, etc. the cancer cells get the upper hand and cause major problems.

  4. Chris, please encourage Janette to create a CHART Medical Log – community based medical research into natural cancer therapies. The Medical Log allows patients to give the kinds of details about their condition, treatment and progress that your readers are asking for, and share that openly so other patients and researchers may benefit.

Great interview, as usual. I also was a vegetarian at the time of diagnosis. But looking back I realized I was barely eating any organic – I was a traveling business person for many years and had little to NO healthy choices in the 1970-1980’s. For about 6 years prior to discovery of a breast cancer lump, I had switched to organic and healthy. This led to a very slow-growing cancer. Even though it recurred for years, it grew slower and slower as I gained control of my body. I am the founder of Annie Appleseed Project where my story is told, lots and lots of information.

Any advice? My sister, age 59: clotting disorder / not suppose to have Vit K or aspirin. Adult onset diabetic. Heart condition. Several stints through out her body. Chemo/radiation over a year ago took major tole on her body. Hospitalized often for observation, also brain bleed, gall bladder removed, 2nd brain bleed = lost her job. Last week lung surgery due to fluid between lung and lining, they removed a mass, yes it is cancer. More tests today and over the weekend.

I had stag 3-B breast cancer, had bilateral mastectomy, followed with 6 round s taxoterr, cytoxan and herceptin, none of what I wanted to have , Been fighting it for 18 mos..now I have to take that nasty pill anastrozole with ALL the side effects ? Is there anything natural I could take instead of it to block estrogen and progesterone ??? Jan

Hi Cancertruth, this is an amazing story. Doctors want use to believe their toxins are the answer…stories like this prove them wrong but they still refuse to turn the blind eye. Cancertruth I can no longer post on your Facebook page, not sure why but I enjoyed looking at all the post and comments and being able to post as well. Not sure why

I’ve been struggling with progressive autoimmune type-muscle/neuro/and now joint disease (also affects eyes/optic nerve) for 16 years now- the only diagnosis is the non mainstream diagnosis of chronic lyme disease. I did 1.5 years of a high raw low fat vegan diet (lots of fruit, handful o fnuts/day, a little avocado, some cooked veggies for dinner-inlcuing starch’s)-lots and lots of fruit and greens. Though I did seem to have more energy- the skin fungus I had got much worse –(candida?) and then I developed ovarian/breast cysts /endometriosis IV. I even did 5 months of gerson therapy and things got much worse. I’m still doing green smoothies every day, large salads-but added back a little bit of gluten free grains and some wild or organic/grass fed meat–I’ve also been doing mhbot therapy the pat 8 months daily and things are progressing. I exercise, meditate, spiritual work, energy work. you name it–sleep is a big issue. I”m 52. I can’t seem to crack the code, since things are still progressing. I guess I wonder about all the fruit and the connection with candida and neurlogical/autoimmune disease given I do have fungus all over my torso/and now neck and other areas and it has spread. When I tried 100% raw I became constipated. So that didn’t work for me. I wonder about Auryveda and contitution types and where Janet would fit? I am a vata-so in theory I’m supposed to have cooked foods. I”m very confused on the entire issue of diet given I’ve been whole foods organic for 22 years and I think tried almost every diet over those years from weston price to low fat vegan. IA also developed low hemoglobin, hematorcrit and low WBC on the high raw low fat diet. My nails looked bad as well. Though they did look fabulous on the gerson therapy.Ann Boroch who recovered from MS links candida to MS and says those with MS must follow a candida type diet for life (low or only low sugar fruit like berries). I’d love to hear others opinions on this.

I am loving this website, and YOU, Chris! Thanks, a million thanks. To keep it brief, I was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer, and am considering the Breuss cancer approach (42 day fast). Noticed that he says its crucial to follow it exactly! On the other hand, I’ve read a great deal about apricot seeds and B17, as well as some other supplements. And, I’m also a huge proponent of Young Living essential oils. That being said, does anyone know if that would necessarily “hurt” the juice fast, or perhaps lessen its effectiveness? (if I were taking supplements in addition?) Thanks so much for any insight you have. Again, thanks for this site and all the inspiration behind it!

    1. Chris Wark

Hi Audrey I have huge respect for Breuss… there’s really no way to know if anything would interfere with the effectiveness of the fast, you could always add those things after 42 days to be on the safe side.
