“I didn’t search for guarantees. Life doesn’t have guarantees. I searched for real stories from real people.” -Sandra Petrovic
Aleksandra “Sasha” Petrovic is a wife, and mother of two from Auckland, New Zealand. Sasha and her husband, Dragan, grew up in the former Yugoslavia, living through war and economic collapse before deciding to build a better life in New Zealand. Then in 2015, Sasha found a lump in her breast.
She was diagnosed with aggressive, grade 3, triple-positive invasive breast cancer and given a poor prognosis. Sasha chose to have a lumpectomy instead of a mastectomy and declined chemotherapy, radiation, hormone therapy, and Herceptin.
Instead of asking “Why is this happening to me?” she asked, “What can I do today to help my body?”
Sasha made drastic changes to her lifestyle. She adopted a plant-based diet, started juicing and fasting, exercising, and addressing nutritional deficiencies. She also completely changed her mindset, facing her fears, practicing gratitude, self-love, and forgiveness, and learning to slow down. In 2017, Sasha found the survivor interviews on my website and joined the SQUARE ONE Program, which gave her further encouragement to stay on the holistic healing path.
Today, Sasha is healthy, grateful, and passionate about sharing the message of hope in healing with others facing a cancer diagnosis. Her husband, Dragan, was a huge support and wrote a book about their experience called From Fear to Freedom.
I love Sasha’s story; it’s just another reminder that healing is possible. I know her story will encourage you too. Enjoy!
